A NYC Night....with Kylie!

Last night was pure magic!!! I saw Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue perform live for the first time!!! I discovered her album, the house infused europop masterpiece Fever in 2001 and have been a die hard fan ever since. Last night was the final performance on her For Me, For You Tour 2009; her first North American tour...EVER! I was so excited to finally be able to see one of her spectacular live shows. I was a little concerned that it would be really low budget since she usually plays arenas BUT she brought the drama! It was basically a "best of" all her European tours over the years. There was a laser light show that would be sure to make Pink Floyd and Lady Starlight green with envy. Low laying fog was involved.  Seven costume changes were involved.  The setlist contained songs from her entire back catalog, the debut of a new song "Better Than Today" off her upcoming album, even a cover of Madonna's "Vogue"....amazing! The show was a full two hour extravaganza and her dreamy vocals were completely on point. What a talent. No wonder she's been putting out music since the mid-80's!

My friends and I showed up at Hammerstein Ballroom fairly early but still braved a line that spanned an entire NYC block. Miraculously we got pretty close to the stage and had a great center stage view. After the show we had dinner and then I went down to the LES for open bar at Happy Endings. What a great night!!
